Shelter Update - Now at UCSB
The Red Cross at Dos Pueblos High School is full. Additionally, 7,000 more homes will need to evacuate which is approximately 18,000 more people. As such, emergency shelters are now on the UCSB campus. When evacuating to one of the Red Cross shelters bring your important documents: Passport/birth certificate, medications, irreplaceable items, and 2 days of clothes. (Also see this evac checklist). Facilities have mens/womens showers and staff have necessary items, tooth brushes, deodorant. Red Cross staff can assist you with finding a place for animals.
Shelter 1: UCSB Rec Cen (the MAC) - Capacity: 900 (possibly 2300)
Go to the UCSB Rec Cen inside the Multi Activity Court (MAC). See here for info about the MAC.
Directions: From 101 take Highway 217 towards UCSB. At the UCSB Main Gate and traffic circle head right. Continue straight to the 3rd light, turn Left onto Ocean Road. Parking is in the structure on the left. The shelter inside the Rec Cen on the right. UCSB staff will assist you.
Shelter 2: UCSB Events Center (Thunderdome) - Capacity: 6000
Anyone with medical needs or other special needs will be taken to the Thunderdome. See here for info about the Thunderdome. The Thunderdome is on Ocean and El Collegio. Google Map of the Thunderdome. Directions to the Thunderdome.
